Cristian Moreno - Lead & Background Vocals


     Cristian Moreno is a Mexican American who grew up on the southwest side of Chicago in the Pilsen Neighborhood. Earnest and introspective, his melodic tones and signature belting stem from strong influences within the Grunge Rock era. His main musical influences are Chris Cornell, Jeff Buckley, and Brandon Boyd.


Starting his musical career in high school as a trumpet player, Cristian competed at Berkeley College of Music in Boston in 2011 and 2012 in a Latin Jazz Ensemble. He graduated and attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where he obtained a Criminology degree by the spring of 2016 and shortly after began working as a litigation paralegal.


Enjoying the night life Chicago has to offer, he discovered his passion for singing at the age of 22 through venturing to Karaoke bars all over Chicago. Cristian doubled down on his love for singing by taking vocal lessons and countless hours of practice. Through this ambition, he was able to cement his place as a lead singer in the band Away from Wolves and other duo side projects. He is currently recording a professional rock album that will be released by the end of 2021.

Dan Kunzer - Lead and Rhythm Guitar, Background Vocals


     Dan has been playing Guitar covering all genres of music since he was a kid.  Growing up in the 70's and 80's provided an inspiration of music to learn and grow as a musician.  He has the ability to capture and maintain an audience with style and flavor, suiting each piece of music appropriately, with accuracy and technique.  He has a passion for his craft, you can see that every time he performs.  Most noteably, his engaging enthusiasm, invites the audience to be captivated and completely entertained.

Marco Severini - Lead & Rhythm Guitar, Keyboards, Background Vocals

     

     Marco Severini began his musical journey when he first picked up a guitar in 2001. From that moment on he started taking lessons and never looked back. Marco had his first performance when he performed “Wild Thing” by The Troggs at age seven at his school talent show. During his teenage years, he would participate in school jazz bands and won the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award in 2013. Marco was was also the front man of Drag’n 7 which is a heavy metal band that played both original and cover music in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. After High School, Marco had his sights set on the east coast where he was accepted to Berklee College of Music. During his studies, he got his BA in Contemporary Music and Production and took guitar lessons from the legendary Joe Stump who is the current lead guitarist of Alcatrazz. Marco has always pushed his personal boundaries in learning music theory and applying them to the guitar. His main influences include John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix and Al Di Meola. Since moving back to Illinois, Marco has performed with bands such as Ratt Pack, and Serendipity. He is most excited to perform with the versatile band that is Heavy Metal Horns.

Oz Amaro - Drums, Background Vocals

Steve Stutsman - Drums


     Steve started playing the drums 43 years ago and never stopped.  Steve's biggest influences include hard rock, heavy metal, funk, jazz, and blues.  Steve has played with many different bands of all different genres in Wisconsin and Illinois.
He has also performed with national acts throughout the country including Susan Aquila (from Trans-Siberian Orchestra) and major companies like U.S. Steel. 


In addition to playing acoustic drums, he enjoys integrating technology into his work.

He is also a vocalist.  He started singing as a child in his church choir and continues singing today. He also loves to write original music.  "I am a passionate fan of music! "

Mark Roller - Lead Trumpet, Horn Section Leader


     Mark began his musical career at the age of 11 playing trumpet.  From there he played through grade school and garnered many awards in solo & ensemble festivals.  His first major experience was playing in the "Singing Christmas Trees" in an Orlando area church.  Through his college years he played in all the major ensembles including Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Pep Band, Marching Band, and Orchestra.  Also during this time he spent holidays at Walt Disney World as a Student Musician for 8 years.  After receiving his Bachelor of Music Education from Stetson University, he moved up north to the Chicagoland area to get a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from Northern Illinois University.  While at Northern, Mark learned from the great educator and Jazz Director Ron Carter where he learned how to "Swing".  Mark is featured on YouTube, played Trumpet on Veggie Tales' "Lyle the Kindly Viking", has traveled Europe, and played with some of the biggest names in the Jazz world including Jimmy Heath, Wynton Marsalis, and David Steinmeyer to name a few. "Music has always been the center of my life."

Joe Rossi - Trumpet


     Joe started playing trumpet at age 9 and has been lucky enough to have never stopped since. All through his high school and college years, Joe played in marching bands, concert bands, wind ensembles, jazz ensembles and pit orchestras. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he played lead trumpet in the U of I Jazz Band I under the direction of John Garvey. Throughout his music career, Joe has played with numerous groups in the Chicagoland Area including the Outcast Jazz Band, Big Band of Chicago, Kimberly Gordon Big Band, Michael Lerich Orchestra, Later Days and has played with jazz greats Ed Shaughnessy, John McLaughlin, Louis Bellson and Randy Brecker. Joe has also played lead trumpet in pit orchestras for countless stage productions including City of Angels, Jesus Christ Superstar, the revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as well at Court Theater’s production of Chicago at the University of Chicago. Joe is thrilled to be part of the rockin' horn section of Heavy Metal Horns.

Michael Townley- Trombone


     After beginning piano lessons at the age of 3, Michael switched to the trombone at age 11. Through middle and high school he played in various all-state ensembles and small professional gigs in the area.  He attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and studied jazz trombone under the guidance of Marc Fields.  While in Cincinnati he played in small and large jazz groups as well as blues, reggae, and salsa bands.  He moved to Chicago in 2004 and made a living teaching private lessons and playing in funk bands, wedding bands, and jazz bands like Alan Gresik's Swing Shift Orchestra and Bob Perna's Persistence.  He continues to be active and play in many diverse groups in the Chicago area.
